“So, take the fast lane at home and play it cool in the rest of the world.”
North East based design company Mustachio invented a golf product that innovatively gives you real-time information about how good and consistent your stance is.
By speeding up the process of getting the UK patent application through to grant they have proved that their invention is protectable with a patent. At the same time we aren’t rushing the process anywhere else deferring the cost and giving the product a chance to mature as it enters the market allowing us to ensure we have the right protection in place for the long term.
“Being very new to business at the time we engaged Graham’s services, we weren’t sure what it was that we were looking for. However, now that I have a deeper understanding of the process and the business landscape, I can appreciate just how valuable Graham’s role was in those early formative stages of our product development. Graham’s comprehension of innovation and willingness to immerse himself in a niche market sector gave us confidence that our product was in the right hands. Graham is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also down-to-earth and easy to work with. He took the time to understand our product and helped us navigate the patent process smoothly, ensuring the TALON was fully protected and was always available to offer advice and support at all stages of our journey. If you need someone who genuinely cares about your business and will go the extra mile for you, I can’t recommend Graham and Archer IP enough.”

“Patents are not all Rocket Science and the next Big Thing!”
“Patents are not all Rocket Science and the next Big Thing!”
Inventions build on the products that came before them and sometimes it only takes a little change to an existing product to get a patent. This is a great example of a small change that led to a significant improvement in a product that was well and truly worthy of patent protection. Our client, Tiger Lifting, from Alnwick in Northumberland, makes high quality hoisting and winching products which are sold around the world. An example of one of their products is shown here. The hook is a vital part of many of their products and regular checking of the integrity of the hook is an important part of ensuring the safe use of the apparatus. This was previously achieved by measuring the distance between two reference points across the opening of the hook.
The invention that we got a patent for Tiger Lifting, was the inclusion of 3 dots which together form a triangle on the hook. The distance A between two of the dots is a reference and if the distance B is different from A, then the hook as stretched across the opening and should not be used. One of the great things about this invention is that the hook is essentially the same as prior to the invention. The simple addition of the three dots turns it into a patented product. The majority of Tiger Lifting’s products can benefit from this innovation and they qualify for the Patent Box.
“Graham and Archer-IP have helped us grow our understanding of patents and how best to use them to grow our business. His advice is practical and business focused.”
